A 25-year-old Ohio State University business major was honored by the Veterans Administration as the 20 millionth person to participate in the GI Bill educational benefits program. Steven Scott, who will continue his education this fall using benefits earned during two years in the Army, told those attending the ceremony that one of the reasons he joined the service was the educational benefits. “This is one of those rare moments in my life when everything is going perfect,” he said. Scott, who will be a junior this fall, was assigned to the 4040th Signal Battalion in Darmstadt, West Germany. Since 1944, GI Bill programs have provided $69.7 billion in assistance to veterans, dependents and active duty members, VA Administrator Thomas K. Turnage said.
