Campbell’s Soup Co. has named Robert J. Vlasic, chairman of Vlasic Foods Inc., chairman of Campbell’s.
Vlasic succeeds William S. Cashel Jr., 67, who said a year ago that he would be stepping down. Cashel has served as chairman since 1984. The change will occur after the company’s annual meeting Nov. 18.
Vlasic, 62, has been a Campbell’s director since 1978, the same year the pickle-producing company was acquired by Campbell’s as part of its “soup-to-nuts” expansion strategy.
Vlasic Foods was founded by Vlasic’s father, Joseph, in 1959.
