Foothill League powers Hart and Burroughs, both 1-1 in nonleague play, will attempt to regain their winning form tonight against well-regarded opponents. Hart plays Palmdale at 7:30 at College of the Canyons and Burroughs plays at La Canada at 7:30. In other games, Kennedy plays at Chino and Westlake plays at Ventura.
Hart and Palmdale are both coming off losses. Hart lost to Colton, 23-16, and Palmdale lost to Crespi, 33-13, after trailing, 33-0.
“I’m really surprised, after looking at the tape, that Crespi was able to beat them,” Hart Coach Dave Carson said of Palmdale. “They’re great athletes, I’m really concerned about stopping them.”
Palmdale Coach John Lowry shuffles four running backs--La-Shante Parker, Anthony Florence, Travis Collier and Don Turner--into the lineup. The quarterback is Cole Speer (8 of 21 for 63 yards against Crespi).
Burroughs was shut out last week by Notre Dame, 20-0, and La Canada (1-1) managed only 7 first downs in a 23-3 loss to Glendale.
Kennedy (2-0) faces a tough test against Chino, which lost to Thousand Oaks, 25-21, in its opener.
Kennedy senior quarterback Tony Smets led the Cougars to a 22-6 win over Crenshaw last week with a 228-yard, 3-touchdown passing performance. Kennedy linemen Joel Silver, Pieter van Soelen and Doug Huff are questionable, Coach Bob Francola said.
