POP LP CHART : All Quiet on Top 10; McFerrin on the Rise

Things have been pretty quiet lately in the Top 10 of the Billboard magazine pop album chart, with few new editions or major shifts. Guns N’ Roses’ second-ranked “Appetite for Destruction” is still a good bet to inch back to No. 1. Having a No. 3 single--”Perfect World”--on the pop chart isn’t helping Huey Lewis’ new album, “Small World,” make the pop Top 10. It’s stalled at No. 11. Europe, the glam pop-rockers, have a fair-sized hit album with “Out of This World,” No. 29 after four weeks. Though Randy Travis’ “Old 8x10” has been No. 1 for the last month on country album charts, it has been just a moderate pop hit, lingering in the high 30s--No. 38 this week. Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child o’ Mine” is still the No. 1 pop single.

* Recently McFerrin’s “Simple Pleasures” has been the fastest-rising album on the pop chart--this week jumping from No. 32 to No. 20.
