A Japanese exchange student is in a coma after being tackled during high school football practice in Bakersfield.
Kazuki Adachi, a senior at Community Christian High School, got up after he was tackled Tuesday but collapsed a short time later. Doctors at Kern Medical Center operated on the youth for three hours that night to relieve blood pressure on his brain. Adachi is on a life support system and remains unconscious.
All of Community Christian High School’s extracurricular activities for the rest of the week have been canceled, including a football game with Visalia-Central Valley Christian.
