Los Angeles Traffic Problems

Just when I thought that you have heard it all, one more fact comes along that frustrates me even more about our inept state government. “Ending Transportation Neglect,”(Editorial, Aug. 22) clearly states just such a point.
Depending on the foreign-exchange rate of the dollar, the state of California is the world’s sixth largest economic power. And yet this tremendous state of ours has no long-range transportation plan. What is even more incredible is the fact that there are those in the state government who are actually opposed to such a plan. As the founder of the Southern California Monorail Project, I know first-hand that it is this lack of responsibility on the part of the Legislature that has taken us to the brink of virtual gridlock.
Bravo to the Los Angeles Times for supporting Assemblywoman Delaine Eastin’s AB 2927. And bravo to Eastin for being a responsible politician in this matter. This legislation would establish a state commission to work toward the establishment and continual updating of a long-range state transportation plan.
