A 20-year-old Mexican man was fatally stabbed late Sunday in northeast Oceanside, police said.
Freddy Gomez-Ramirez, from Chilla de las Flores in the state of Puebla, Mexico, was found in a field near the 6000 block of North River Road by Oceanside police, according to Bob George, police spokesman.
According to George, Gomez-Ramirez and an undetermined number of other men were drinking beer when an argument broke out. Gomez-Ramirez was stabbed by a man he tried to quiet when the man began to call the other people in the group names, George said.
Gomez-Ramirez was stabbed once in the chest and died before he could be transported to a hospital, George said.
No one has been arrested in the stabbing, and George said the suspect has probably fled for Mexico.
