California Ballet Associate Director Charles Bennett has designed a new laser light ballet for the company’s Sea World opener Sept. 10-11. “It took me a long time to figure out what to do with the lasers,” Bennett said. “Lasers haven’t been used very much with ballets. We’ll be firing the lasers over the audience’s head, and the effects will be programmed with the music. The dance will be classically based . . . but it won’t be jazzy. That’s too obvious.”
