Local News in Brief : Motorcyclist Hits Rear of Pickup Truck, Dies

A speeding motorcyclist was killed Thursday when he struck a pickup truck on the Ventura Freeway near Westlake Village, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Geoff Wood, 20, of Thousand Oaks was traveling south at about 100 m.p.h. when he crashed into the rear of the truck near Westlake Boulevard at 1:20 a.m., CHP officials said.
Wood, who was not wearing a helmet, was killed on impact, the CHP said. The driver of the pickup, Dale Sonday, 29, of Walnut, was not injured.
