Almost $2 million worth of counterfeit music cassettes in English and Spanish were seized after police investigated a tip of suspicious activity at a Pomona apartment, authorities said Wednesday.
Police suspect that the tapes were made in the apartment and sold at swap meets and other outlets.
Investigators obtained search warrants for a warehouse in Fontana, where they seized $900,000 worth of counterfeit tapes, several boxes of counterfeit labels and label negatives as well as machinery for making the cassette boxes, police said.
Three men and a teen-ager were booked on criminal conspiracy charges. The adults were identified as Valadez Enriquez, 18, and Subjh Falah Badawi, 34, both of Ontario, and Najeh Falah Badawi, 31, of Fontana, police said. The teen-ager’s name was withheld.
