Other reunions: The Stray Cats are getting back together again after a four-year layoff for an album and tour. At a press conference Friday, the rockabilly/pop group announced plans for a U.S. club tour beginning in Portland, Ore., on Sept. 9, with a tentative Los Angeles date of Sept. 16. Dave Edmunds, their past producer, will oversee work on a new album starting November, for release in early 1989. The Stray Cats’ debut 1982 U.S. album, “Built for Speed,” sold more than 1 million copies. After their breakup, both Brian Setzer and “Slim” Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker (in the Phantom, Rocker and Slick trio) released two unsuccessful albums. A 1986 reunion album, according to one source, was hastily recorded to fulfill a contractual obligation.
