The Assn. for California Tort Reform, a group representing insurer and business groups, sued state Atty. Gen. John K. Van de Kamp in Sacramento Superior Court seeking a change in the ballot summary he has prepared for Proposition 100, an initiative backed by the state’s trial lawyers. The suit contends the summary should make clear that one section of the measure prohibits any future regulation of attorney fees. A later section, however, would leave the Legislature free to set such fee limits. A hearing was set Aug. 11.
