Utah Man Identified From MIA Remains

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii — The remains of an Air Force officer from Utah who was missing in Vietnam for more than 20 years have been identified, the Defense Department said Monday.
Col. Mark L. Stephensen, 36, of Salt Lake City, was identified by the Army’s Central Identification Laboratory here, the department said.
Stephensen was lost on April 29, 1967, over North Vietnam, and his were among the remains of 27 Americans returned by the Vietnamese government on April 6.
Stephensen’s remains were to be flown to Travis Air Force Base, Calif., today, and later will be turned over to his relatives.
