Richard M. Cahill, 49, has been named legal vice president of GTE’s new local telephone headquarters. GTE, the Stamford, Conn.-based telecommunications giant, said in March that it was consolidating its seven local phone companies--including GTE California in Thousand Oaks--into one headquarters and four regional offices. GTE California was named regional headquarters for the company’s Western territory in June; the company has yet to announce the location of the central headquarters.
Cahill joined GTE in 1969 and has been vice president and general counsel of GTE California since 1983.
