British actress Margaret Tyzack will be allowed after all to appear with Maggie Smith in “Lettice and Lovage” when it arrives on Broadway in January. Actors Equity, the American actors union, has agreed to let Tyzack perform in New York, recreating the role she plays in the London production of the Peter Shaffer play. In the hit comedy, Smith is an eccentric English tour guide and Tyzack her employer. Equity usually grants permission only for stars of international caliber to work in New York, but Smith reportedly would not consider an American engagement unless Tyzack appeared with her.
