The Lakers will hold their 1988 training camp at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, the team announced Wednesday.
In addition, the Lakers will play their first two exhibition games at the Blaisdell Center Arena in Honolulu against the Golden State Warriors Oct. 13 and 14. The remainder of the Lakers’ exhibition schedule will be announced at a later date.
“I have been coming to Hawaii for many years, and everyone over there seems to be a Laker fan,” Lakers owner Jerry Buss said. “Since the people of Hawaii have seemed to adopt the Lakers, it only seems fitting that the Lakers adopt the state of Hawaii as their home, at least for training camp.”
The six-day training camp will begin Oct. 7.
