Local News in Brief : Plan to Ease Congestion
- Share via
A plan to alleviate morning traffic congestion at Inglewood Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard will be considered by the Lawndale City Council at 7 p.m. July 21 at City Hall, 14717 Burin Ave.
The proposal would double the length of the left-turn lane on northbound Inglewood Avenue and would prohibit parking on Inglewood from 7 to 9 a.m. to facilitate right-hand turns.
The change in the left-turn lane would prevent southbound traffic from turning left into the residential area at 159th Street, which may draw some neighborhood opposition, according to Councilman Harold E. Hofmann.
The city of Redondo Beach has offered to share in the cost of the changes to improve access for workers who pass through the intersection en route to their jobs in Redondo Beach, officials from that city told the Lawndale council.
