Calling all Couch Potatoes! The Sonoma County Fair in Northern California is looking for a Great American Couch Potato to hang out for two weeks in August and sit in an exhibit, eat bad food, watch TV for 10 hours a day--and collect $1,000 for the privilege. Jane Engdahl, the fair’s special events coordinator, said the job has so far turned up more than 20 applicants. “It was just a crazy stunt. We were surprised anyone took it seriously,” said Engdahl, who concocted the admittedly half-baked idea as a promotional stunt for the fair. The applicants’ final test? To see if the king couch-tater can talk to the press and watch pro bowling simultaneously, Engdahl said.
