A Playa del Rey man accused of shooting and wounding a black teen-ager while the youth fished in Ballona Creek surrendered to Sacramento authorities late Tuesday was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
The weekend shooting occurred after a series of taunts and threats against a group of blacks by three white men who were among a party group in a Playa del Rey apartment adjoining the creek, Los Angeles police said.
Mark Shane Lashley, 27, accompanied by an attorney, surrendered to Sacramento police after making arrangements with Los Angeles officers, said Lt. Ross Moen of the LAPD’s Pacific Division. Moen said Lashley is a research scientist employed by Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo.
The lieutenant said detectives will go to Sacramento today to pick up Lashley from jail, where he is being held without bail.
The victim of the shooting, Terence Goudeau, 18, was released from UCLA Medical Center on Tuesday after treatment for wounds in his arm and side.
A second man, Christopher Flores, 26, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly brandished a knife at Goudeau. He was released on $2,000 bail.
