Children playing with matches started a fire in a closet of a Stanton apartment Monday night, causing $10,000 in damage, authorities said.
The blaze began around 10:20 p.m. on the 8100 block of Cerritos Avenue. Firefighters put out the fire, which was confined to the closet and part of the attic, within 20 minutes, according to Eric Thorson, county firefighter.
