15 Families Return Home After Tanker Danger Ends

CROFTON, Ky. — At least 15 families returned to their homes for the first time in nearly three days Saturday as crews finished the delicate job of removing a derailed phosphorus-carrying railroad tanker.
An evacuation order in effect since Wednesday’s derailment and fire was lifted after the tanker was loaded onto a special flatbed rail car. Thousands of people in eight counties had been evacuated because of toxic gases given off in the fire but most were able to return home Friday.
