Flag Flap a Lot of Noise for Nothing

From my penthouse-like perch high above the city and the sea, two sights fill with delight--the ocean and the Queen Mary (from my bedroom windows), and Signal Hill and the mountains (from my living room and kitchen), with Ski Demski’s large, lovely and lustrous flag floating free for all to see--”a thing of beauty is a joy forever.”
The “Flap Over Ski’s Noisy Old Glory Set for Flag Day” (Southeast/Long Beach sections, June 12) is largely full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. For most of us, Ski’s eccentricity is a small price to pay for the scintillating subsidy of beholding, at no expense, those consummate colors smack-dab in our stupendous skyscape.
It is hard to imagine that a jury, even one with groundlings aplenty aboard, would convict larger-than-life (in more ways than one) Ski for flying a larger-than-life flag--unless someone is jealous of his flair for getting his name around. Or is offended by his decal-draped Caddy. Or is mad at something.
