Local News in Brief : Countywide : Irvine Foundation Gives $100,000 to Boy Scouts

The James Irvine Foundation has given $100,000 to the Orange County Council of the Boy Scouts of America for outreach programs targeted at Orange County’s Latino community.
The grant will fund six additional program aide positions in the council’s Latino outreach program. The aides will work within the Latino community to organize new Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops.
They also will work to further the growth of the Soccer Scouting program, which aims to get youth unfamiliar with Scouting involved through soccer. More than 600 youths from Santa Ana, Orange, Garden Grove, Fullerton and Anaheim are involved in Scouting because of the Scout Soccer League, an outgrowth of the soccer program.
“We greatly appreciate the generous support of the James Irvine Foundation to provide Scouting outreach programs,” Scout executive Bufford Hill said.
