Pesticide levels will be tested in Hanford’s water-well system and two Fresno-area systems as part of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency attempt to learn the extent of drinking water contamination in the nation. Sixty-eight community water systems in California were chosen at random among 600 across the nation for the test, the EPA said. Selected in Central California were the Hanford Water Department, Fresno County Waterworks and the Ho-Ho Mobile Home Park on West Olive Avenue in Fresno. Water samples will be tested next winter for more than 100 pesticides plus nitrates and nitrites.
