The New Plant

Regarding Robert Hilburn’s review of Robert Plant at Pacific Amphitheatre, his own preconceptions prevent him from noticing that Plant is an extraordinarily charismatic performer with or without Led Zeppelin (“When Plant Lets the Led Out, Rock Power of ‘70s Kicks In,” June 15).
The audience was on its feet from the moment he appeared; they didn’t wait till he began to sing the oldies. No one can compare with Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, but Plant’s current band is good. The most indicative T-shirts I saw had “Led Zeppelin” on the back and “Robert Plant” in the front--now that’s proper symbolism!
