A 29-year-old Ridegcrest man, who has been convicted six times on drunk driving charges, has been sentenced to six years in prison for an alcohol-related motorcycle crash that killed his best friend. Kenneth Gordon Petty, also known as Kenneth Noles, admitted that he caused the Nov. 20, 1986, crash on California 178 near Lake Isabella that killed Frank J. Maxwell, 36, of Weldon. Petty suffered a broken thigh in the wreck.
