Japanese Official Leaps to Death From 6th Floor

TOKYO — A senior official of Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force committed suicide today by jumping from the sixth floor of an apartment building, a Defense Agency spokesman said.
Yoshifumi Wada, 48, chief of the Aircraft Division at the Maritime Staff Office, had been undergoing questioning since Saturday by officials concerning allegations he was “frequently entertained” by Japanese companies seeking work contracts.
