Internees

If I had intended to vote for George Bush, he lost me when he preempted our President in favoring payment of $20,000 to the 60,000 Japanese interned by the U.S. government during World War II (Part I, June 7). This payment from a bankrupt Treasury will be taxed to people not yet born in 1942. It will be paid by American Indians, blacks and other maltreated folks. Indeed it will be taxed to many of the Japanese recipients.
