Responding to reports of impending layoffs, Lorimar Telepictures conceded that it is “currently assessing our personnel needs for a smooth transition” to turning over its domestic film distribution to Warner Bros., as reported. Sources said the decision, expected by Friday, could affect about 100 employees. A Lorimar spokeswoman noted that the new distribution agreement is “effective immediately.” Warner Communications, parent of Warner Bros., is preparing to take over Lorimar by the end of summer under an acquisition agreement announced May 16.
