L.A. Gear, a fast-growing maker of fashion sports shoes, said it expects sales for the second quarter to leap to between $50 million and $55 million, up from $15.8 million in the same period last year. For the year, the Los Angeles-based company expects to record sales of between $140 million and $210 million, at least double last year’s $70.6 million. Elliot Horowitz, executive vice president and chief financial officer, said annual profits are anticipated to grow to between $11.2 million and $16.8 million, up from $4.4 million last year.
