Winning the America’s Cup did not give Dennis Conner or the San Diego Yacht club carte blanche to rewrite the original America’s Cup charter or the rules of good sportsmanship. For them to insist on using a multihull defender against the monohull challenger can be likened to the response of a spoiled child who attempts to ruin the game rather than play fair.
