Jan Accepts Offer From Arizona

Granada Hills High wide receiver Kyle Jan, who turned down a Division I scholarship offer in order to take his chances as a walk-on player at UCLA, has accepted an offer from Arizona.
The 6-4, 195-pound Jan virtually had given up hope of receiving an offer from a Pacific 10 Conference school when Arizona contacted him last month, weeks after most Division I players had signed. He had received a partial offer from New Mexico but had opted instead to try to make the UCLA roster.
Jan received the Arizona offer Monday, moments after his return from a weekend visit to the Tucson campus.
“I’m glad I waited,” he said. “I’d pretty much thought it was all over. I guess I kind of lucked out that they still had anything left.”
Jan, a Times All-Valley selection, caught 65 passes for 950 yards (14.6 avg.) and a school-record 15 touchdowns.
