Cerritos : Math Teacher Honored

Owen Robbins, a math teacher at Stowers Elementary School in Cerritos, has been selected as 1988 California Teacher of the Year by IBM Corp. and Classroom Computer Learning magazine. This is the first year the award, which recognizes excellence in teaching through the use of computer technology, has been given, IBM spokesman Rita Black said.
Robbins will receive the award Friday in Sacramento from Bill Honig, state superintendent of public instruction, along with representatives of IBM and the computer magazine. Robbins also will be honored by Gov. George Deukmejian.
