A Huntington Beach man was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter after his car collided with the rear of another in Westminster early Monday, killing the female driver, police said.
The name of the woman, who was believed to have been between 50 and 60, had not been confirmed by police Monday. She was pronounced dead at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center after the 1:05 a.m. accident on Beach Boulevard, south of Hazard Avenue.
Burt L. Allen, 28, driver of the other car, was uninjured in the accident. He was booked into County Jail on $25,000 bail.
Police Sgt. C.R. Miller said both vehicles were traveling south on Beach when Allen’s car rammed the woman’s. Paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital, where she died in surgery a short time later.
