The Conference Board said its help-wanted advertising index held steady at 158 in April, compared to its performance in March. The index measures the volume of classified advertising in 51 major newspapers across the nation and is sensitive to changes in demand for labor, according to the business-supported research group. “Labor market trends have become perplexing,” Kenneth Goldstein, a Conference Board economist, said.
