Measure A Sparks Debate Over Growth and County’s Future
- Share via
Measure A and other no-growth initiatives are not the answer to reducing traffic. By two simple actions the state could cut the number of vehicles on the streets and freeways by about 20% almost over night.
Enforce the mandatory Liability Insurance Law. I am sure this can be done by some computer-match of registrations against proof of coverage.
Start a system of annual safety inspections of all vehicles. Some states even require them every six months.
Either one of these actions would probably eliminate a surprising number of vehicles from the road and it would be the most dangerous segment of traffic.
Time to remember that driving is a privilege and not a right.
