China Plans to Lure Tourists to Yalu River

BEIJING — China plans to turn a border zone attacked by American planes during the Korean War into a major attraction for foreign tourists, the official China Daily said Thursday.
The newspaper said visitors will be invited to view the bridge over the Yalu River, which divides China and North Korea and still bears bullet holes and other damage caused by American strafing in 1950.
One million Chinese troops fought against American forces in the Korean War, and China provided vital military supplies to the north via rail across the Yalu River bridge.
