Shareholders of Fresno-based Vendo Co. overwhelmingly approved an agreement for the vending machine manufacturer to be purchased by Saden International Corp. of Tokyo for $9 cash per share. Only about 150 of Vendo’s 2,600 stockholders attended the meeting at the Fresno’s Airport Holiday Inn, but proxies for more than 1.9 million of the 2.7 million outstanding shares were represented. Vendo has more than 800 employees, and Sanden General Manager Kenichi Ushikubo said he sees “no reduction in employment as a result of the merger.”
