MANILA — Thirty villagers are feared dead after a landslide triggered by heavy rains buried their cluster of mountainside huts in the southern Philippines, the military said on Tuesday.
The victims, belonging to five families, were apparently sleeping when rocks and mud buried their houses before dawn on Sunday in Don Marcelino municipality in Davao del Sur province, a military report said. Seven bodies have so far been recovered by rescue teams.
