A drunken Philippine marine ran amok and killed 12 people during a shooting rampage in a Manila suburb. Sgt. Marciano Contaoe, 32, who police said was on assignment to the Presidential Security Group that protects President Corazon Aquino, drew a pistol and fatally shot two fellow members of the guard and a third man who were drinking with him. Then he ran to his home nearby in the suburb of Taguig, got an M-16 rifle and went to a neighbor’s house where he killed eight people, including three children. The 12th victim was shot to death outside on the sidewalk. Police said Contaoe was “blind drunk,” but they offered no motive.
