The Raiders acquired cornerback Russell Carter Saturday from the New York Jets for a sixth-round choice in the 1989 draft.
Carter, a first-round draft choice of the Jets in 1984, has been hampered by injuries during his career in New York.
The Jets tried to trade Carter to the Indianapolis Colts in April, but Carter failed the Colts’ physical.
Carter suffered a dislocated left shoulder and missed the final three games of last season.
In 1986, Carter missed three games with groin and hamstring injuries, missed eight games of 1985 with a back problem, and missed five games in 1984 with groin and hamstring problems.
