Drought Concern Delays Opening of Project’s Lake : Planned Development Near Rancho California by Lusk Co. to Be Constructed over the Next 10 Years

Because of anticipated drought conditions in California, the opening of the 35-acre recreational lake at Menifee California may be delayed until at least October, according to a spokeswoman for the Lusk Co., the developers.

The $500-million, 2,000-acre planned development 11 miles north of Rancho California in Riverside County has a seven- to 10-year build-out, according to Lusk’s Marty Reinfried. She added that the development’s information center will open in July.

One of the eight builders in the first phase of the recreation-oriented project will be Orange-based Century American, building Belcanto on the Lake, along the shore of the recreational lake. The development will have 215 Mediterranean-styled single-family houses designed by Corbin/Yamafuji & Partners.
