United Artists Communications Inc., which posted a loss of $249,000 in the 1987 first quarter, reported a profit of $5.1 million. However, the company said that because of an accounting change, the results are not directly comparable. The Englewood, Colo.-based entertainment company said current results were after pretax restructuring charges of $970,000 and pretax charges of $750,000 from the termination of proposed acquisitions.
