CSUN Pair Place in NCAA Track

SAN ANGELO, Tex. — Dan Lange placed third in the hammer and Heather Brookes finished sixth in the 10,000 meters to lead Cal State Northridge in the first day of the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships Wednesday at Angelo State University.
Lange’s throw of 181 feet placed him well behind defending champion Cliff Felkins of Abilene Christian (192-1) and Gregory Retzer of Cal State Los Angeles (186-7).
Brookes finished in 36 minutes, 59.8 seconds in the 10,000, which was won by Army’s Tersa Sobiesk in a stadium-record time of 34:39.5.
Lange and Brookes qualified for All-American honors with their marks.
