Local News in Brief : Truck Rams Deputy’s Car
- Share via
An off-duty deputy sheriff fired at a pickup truck that he said rammed his private vehicle early Wednesday on the Golden State Freeway, near the Pomona Freeway. The deputy later arrested the driver and his passenger, after their truck overturned on the San Bernardino Freeway in East Los Angeles.
The deputy, who was not identified, said his own truck was rammed twice by the other vehicle. The deputy fired his handgun once, striking the truck but not the suspects, said Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Cox. The pair apparently did not know they were chasing a sheriff’s deputy, he said. The deputy said the truck overturned when it apparently tried to block the pursuing deputy’s car, Cox said. Arrested for investigation of assault were Roy Carter, 22, and Jonathan Barley, 23, both of Highland Park.
