For the second time in two years, Reseda and Bell will meet in the City Section 3-A Division playoffs, but the stakes will be higher this time around.
Reseda, which lost to Bell in the semifinals last year, will meet the Eagles for the championship Friday at the John Wooden Center at UCLA.
The Regents earned the rematch with a 15-4, 15-6, 15-6 victory over Franklin in a semifinal match Tuesday at Reseda.
With Coley Kyman tallying a match-high eight kills and teammate Karl Cleveland adding seven kills and five successful jump serves, Reseda controlled the match from start to finish.
“We didn’t have any spectacular individual efforts,” Coach Bob Berrenson said. “We just had a real good team effort.”
In other City matches:
Bell d. Canoga Park, 15-4, 15-9, 9-15, 10-15, 15-11--George Lynch and Cesar Uballe each had 26 kills to lead the Eagles in a 3-A semifinal match at Bell.
The victory propels the undefeated (19-0) Eagles into the 3-A final for the second year in a row.
