Gymnast Julissa Gomez of San Antonio, a 4--foot--7, 73-- pound high school freshman, who damaged her cervical vertebrae in a traffic accident in Tokyo 11 days ago, remains paralyzed but conscious.
A spokesman for the Japan Gymnastics Assn. said the condition of the 15--year--old American “remained almost unchanged” since the accident.
Gomez damaged her cervical vertebrae while warming up for the vault, or long horse, competition at an international gymnastics tournament held here in conjunction with the Tokyo International Sports Fair.
