Advanced Marketing Services, a book distributor that sells mainly to membership discounters such as Price Club, reported significant increases in net income and revenue for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended March 31.
Profit for the quarter was $551,000 on sales of $24.1 million, up from a profit of $229,000 on sales of $16.5 million over the same three months last year. AMS President Charles Tillinghast noted that the number of established customer locations to which AMS has been selling for 14 months or longer has grown 21% over last year.
For the year, AMS reported a profit of $3.6 million on sales of $110 million, up from a profit of $1.6 million on sales of $70.3 million.
The company also said Monday that E. William Swanson, formerly president of Parker Pen Co., has joined the AMS board of directors.
