Smedes Powers Laguna Hills to 18-1 Victory

Mike Smedes hit 3 home runs and had 9 RBIs to lead Laguna Hills High School to an 18-1 victory over Laguna Beach Thursday in a Pacific Coast League baseball game at Laguna Hills.
Smedes, a senior, hit a three-run homer in the first inning, a two-run homer in the second and a three-run homer in the sixth. He also had a run-scoring double in the sixth. Smedes has five home runs on the season.
Chris Sheff was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs for Laguna Hills (16-8 overall, 13-2 in league play), which clinched the league championship last week. Rob Milo also had three hits for the Hawks.
