Local News in Brief : South County : Crystal Cove Approved for Permanent Stables
- Share via
The California Coastal Commission on Wednesday gave its approval to a permanent, year-round equestrian center at Crystal Cove State Park.
The commission approved an amendment to the state Department of Parks and Recreation’s public works plan, which previously allowed only temporary stables in the coastal area of the park.
The amendment will enable the Parks Department to seek commission approval for the center, which would house about 60 horses for public rental, and would allow for riding on the east side of Coast Highway, commission coastal analyst Liz Fuchs said Thursday.
The Parks Department had submitted a plan for the stables a year ago but first needed the commission to amend its public works plan. Fuchs said the department probably will submit another plan for commission approval.
